At the heart of the newly developed Whitehill and Bordon town centre, there was a unique opportunity to create a destination that blended retail, food, leisure, and community. The ambition was to deliver something different, an authentic, social space where local makers, foodies, and local entertainment could thrive. More than just a place to shop or eat, this needed to be a shared experience that brought the community together and supported emerging brands in a changing retail landscape.
Branding & Strategy
Inspired by the site’s military heritage and former REME presence at Bordon Camp, we created The Shed — a bold, accessible brand rooted in simplicity and character. The name reflects the semi-industrial architecture of the building, and sets the tone for a place that is both utilitarian and full of creative energy.
The branding combines robust, confident typography with hand-drawn illustrations, capturing the artisan and independent spirit of the offer.

Interior Design
For the interiors, we played with contrasts — mixing natural materials like timber and plywood with industrial greys, corrugated steel, and flashes of red.
This balance created a warm yet raw environment that supports everything from home-cooked food and local craft stalls to creative workspaces and live performances. Every design decision was geared towards making the space flexible, engaging, and true to its local roots.
Impact
The Shed has become a dynamic community hub, a place where shopping is social, produce is local.
It has redefined how a town centre destination can function by merging commercial opportunity with cultural and community value. The concept has not only provided a platform for artisan businesses and start-ups to thrive in a low-barrier retail model, but also drawn footfall and attention to the area,.
The Shed is a living example of how retail, leisure, and local identity can come together to create a space that is both commercially resilient and culturally relevant – true reflection of the future of place-making.
